The getting involved page seems to stress too much becoming a member by
creating an OSGeo account.
Get Involved in the OSGeo Community
Which is causing too many unneeded requests for OSGeo accounts.
I'd like the whole **Become a Member** member section removed. The
mention of wiki in it is already described way down the page. We can do
similar with the part creating an OSGeo member profile.
So proposed changes:
Change the Join The Conversation to:
----
We look forward to meeting you – **Tell us a little bit about yourself**
(hyperlinked to Introductions - OSGeo Discourse) and join the
conversation on one of our forums, mailing lists or social networks.
OSGeo offers an inclusive safe space for everyone. Please review our code
of conduct.
----
Add a section after wiki called: **Add Your profile to OSGeo website**
which reads
----
1. To add your profile on this website you will need an OSGeo User ID.
2. Login to this website (in the upper right corner above) to create a
profile. Profile pages are listed OSGeo members.
----
We'll need to clean up the template here a bit
Introductions - OSGeo Discourse
I think once we do, it will be clear to folks if they really need an OSGeo
account and reduce the number of mantra requests we need to field. Plus by
encouraging people to introduce themselves where people can subscribe to
those introductions, we'll be able to personally welcome people and guide
them on all the various areas of OSGeo based on the their interest.
