#3515: Requesting admin access for mapserver mailing lists

Hi,
Following on from Making sure you're not a bot! I'm concerned
the same issue may have affected the mapserver-dev and mapserver-users
mailing lists (as I missed several emails form these in December 2025).
Can I be granted admin access to lists.osgeo.org Mailing Lists
/mapserver-dev and The MapServer-users Archives to
check if users have been blocked?
I am a member of the MapServer PSC and informed the other devs of this
issue at https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/mapserver-
dev/2026-January/017326.html
Thanks,
Seth

Comment (by Jeff McKenna):
Hi Seth,
My apologies for the delay in my response, I was still sleeping when you
sent this message to MapServer-dev.
Frank and I manage the MapServer-users and MapServer-dev lists.
I was also affected by this problem: I believe that my email address is
blocked from all OSGeo lists currently.
Background: this happened when SAC switched mail server hosts, and OSGeo
was blacklisted when the IP addresses changed. I first saw mention of
this in December through
Lost emails on gdal-dev ?
I have now checked MapServer-users and MapServer-dev, and there was only
one address blocked ("no reason: B"). I removed that now.
I am also an admin of gdal-dev, and that list is a whole different story,
as there are hundreds of addresses with that problem. Of course, it is
hard to know if that is a valid block due to bounces, or was it due to
this mail server switch. In any case, I went through the gdal-dev
subscriber list this morning and removed those blocked addresses. (I will
now send out test messages, and hopefully catch & remove the bounces email
addresses sent back to me)
Sorry for the hassle, but, put plainly: my address is also now blocked
from all OSGeo lists due to that episode, I hope that SAC tackles this,
through a batch update for all OSGeo mailing lists.
Thanks,
-jeff
