[OSGeo-Announce] Boston Awarded Hosting of FOSS4G 2017

The OSGeo Foundation is pleased to announce that the hosting of the
FOSS4G[1] (Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial) 2017 event
has been awarded by the OSGeo Conference Committee to Boston, U.S.A.

The Boston local organizing committee ("BLOC"), led by the chair
Michael Terner, brings many years of experience organizing events
including involvement in several past FOSS4G-NorthAmerica events. The
Boston community is extremely active and vibrant, through such
communities as AvidGeo, Maptime Boston, as well as the OSM community.
Community members (anyone) wanting to discuss the 2017 event can do so
now on the new FOSS4G2017 mailing list[2].

Jeff McKenna, president of OSGeo says: "The OSGeo Board of Directors
are very excited for the Boston team to host the FOSS4G2017 event.
Boston's so many grassroots community organizations in geospatial make
it an absolutely wonderful place to bring and grow the spirit of
FOSS4G. I am already looking forward to Boston 2017!"

OSGeo would also like to thank the Ottawa and Philadelphia teams for
their wonderful proposals, and their continued passion for all things
FOSS4G.

Congratulations to the Boston team!
