To all -

I have recently been examining options for using PC's as cheap
solutions for creating X-window seats. ...
I recently purchased the DesqView/X system with the
PC/TCP network interface and the Openlook window manager which
I have installed on a 25 mhz 386 PC. ...
The problem though is GRASS. The new XDRIVER will not display color
on the PC monitor. ...
If anybody has tried anything similar or have attempted to
hook MACs up to workstations using X-software I would be very
interested in swapping notes.
We recently had an opportunity to experiment with a similiar configuration.
We used PC/TCP for TCP/IP transport, etc, and Vista-Exceed (from Control
Data Systems) for X-windows accomodation. The Ethernet card was 3Com. You
do not mention any specifics re your monitor. Our monitor was capable of
1024x768. So configured, we were able to display GRASS graphics out of the
standard test database, that were identical to those on a real X-Terminal.
We were using Motif for window management.
