[pgrouting-dev] Graph contraction

Dear developers

The experimental function pgr_contractGraph bugs have being fixed

https://github.com/pgRouting/pgrouting/pull/1215
around 1900 unit tests of contraction have passed
https://github.com/pgRouting/pgrouting/tree/develop/pgtap/contraction

I have made tests with it on a real problem with a large database and things have come as expected.

So the next step is move it up from experimental to proposed, but for this step there is going to be a name change on the function to

pgr_contraction

The main reason is to remove the word “Graph” as all pgRouting functions are about graphs, and if in the future there are different techniques (say foo & bar) about contraction then the names can be:
pgr_contractionFoo pgr_contractionBar

instead of

pgr_contractGraphFoo pgr_contractGraphBar

Regards
pgRouting team
