Hello,
I am very interested in finding a method to save a map produced with p.map,
as a
GIF or BMP or PCX or JPEG image. The idea is to have pretty images,
generated in GRASS, available as part of a Web page. I have seen the
visualization and image demo's available at cecer, but I can't seem to find
information concerning the methods for saving (exporting, etc) a "plotfile"
as a GIF, JPEG, etc.
My thanks to those who can help.Have a nice day,

No professional affiliation, just a seeker of help.
This is done by selecting ppm as an output device:
p.select ppm
When p.map is executed, a file called paint.ppm is created in your
home directory. It can then be transformed to a GIF or other
format using the ppm filters or the public domain tool, xv.
I would like to add to this dicussion.
The images obtained using the method, above have a somewhat coarse
resolution, coarser than when sending the output to a printer.
Is there an easy way, to improve their resolution. If
not, does anyone know which part of the source code could be
modified?
Thanks in advance.
