In regards to the request for direct postcript output from GRASS.
Mike was right that SCS is working on tools similar in function
to p.map that will write directly in Postscript. The code is being
written by Paul Carlson in Vermont SCS office. At present he has
preliminary code to handle rast, vect and label files but this is
in a very early stage (ie changing instantaneously) so I do not
think he wants to send it to anyone yet. At the least we think that
a version will be in the SCS contributed code for GRASS4.1.
PS:
If all you want is to make maps with vector files the MAPGEN plotting
system has in it a driver for black and white "ps" or color
postscript support "cps". If you want to try this ask about MAPGEN
