Problem with v.in.arc

My colleague, Cindy Bell, is having a problem running v.in.arc.
She goes through the procedure in ARC/INFO to create the lines_in,
points_in, and text_in files then she fires up v.in.arc, puts in
proper file names and parameter values and it blows up with:
"could not locate the arc lines file"
She's tried putting the lines_in file in different places thinking
that the path name was causing the problem, but always with the
same result.
If anyone can shed light on how to fix this, we'd appreciate it.

I understand the reasons for having the v.in.arc command, but I've
always made arc coverages into DLG files for import into GRASS. The
advantage this has over v.in.arc is the ability to move attributes as
well as lines, points, etc. Maybe I'm missing something with the v.in.arc
command, and maybe someone else can shed some light on the subject.
What do people do when the v.in.arc command works ?? Do they then go in
and relabel everything ??

You can reply here or to Cindy directly (cindy@geo.arc.nasa.gov).
Thanks in advance!
