If you have this problem:
- Scenario: You are using ps.map and plotting to an HP650C.
- Problem: The plotter feeds out an excessive amount of blank
paper/media despite the choice of driver, the
designated scale, etc.
- Solution: Try the Bourne shell script written by Scott Wade,
USACERL-LL-R: " add.pagesize ".
This script is now available at moon.cecer.army.mil's
/grass/incoming.
An excerpt from the introductory notes in Scott Wade's
script is added below.
# This script is an attempt to deal with page size specification
# within the output file of the GRASS program "ps.map".
# The need for this arose when plotting maps on a Hewlett Packard
# DesignJet 650C large-format, color, inkjet plotter. The plotter
# was using 36" x 54" paper sheets for every plot, regardless of the
# size of the map or the size specifications in the selected
# configuration file (selected using "ps.select"). The plotter was
# using a default length that is one and a half times the width of
# the paper [ 54 = 1.5 * 36 ].
#
# The "ps.map" output file is apparently missing a line that specifies
# the plot width and height. If the line is included in the output file,
# the plotter will automatically cut the paper at the edge of the plot,
# and no paper will be wasted. The width/height specification is in
# "points", where 72 points equal one inch.
