The least-cost search algorithm used by r.watershed is described in
"Using the A(T) Search Algorithm to Develop Hydrologic Models from Digital
Elevation Data" in Proceedings of the International Geographic Information
Systems (IGIS) Symposium, '89, pages 275-281.
Equations are taken from the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE)
and Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE).

the services in a seperate e-mail. If you need further help (like
where to find info on RUSLE and USLE, please let me know. I also know the
person who wrote the watershed program, and can get more information for
you if you need it.

I have to parallelize the watershed program. Is someone know where I
could find algorithms and mathematic equations that conduct to make this
program. I begun to isolate a function (init_vars in both executable ram
and seg) that takes a lot of time. So some help or documentation to
explain me what they want to do in this function would be welcome.
