R: [Geoserver-devel] problem: servlet action is not available

You should look in the container log and see exactly what's happening.
The WAR may "seem" to be deployed, when it actually wasn't.
I use JBoss as a container and I got the "...Servlet action is not
available..."
error hundreds of times for any sort of reason (missing classes, etc.).
Some times I also had to restart JBoss altogether...

Generally if everything is working except that web admin tool it
indicates that the jre is working fine and the jdk is messing up.
These computers have the full jdk, right? That would
definitely do it.
But this error message isn't what I would expect. I find it very odd
that you've tried it on three different machines. Maybe build from
source? Or try the binary install? Just to see if you can get it
working at all. Though perhaps there are problems with sun
application
server and struts... that's what the action servlet is for. Do you
need to use the sun one? (yes, we should support it, I'll try to
download and test, but my internet connections are spotty these days).

Sorry to not be of more help, this one's kinda stumping me.

Chris
