r.in.ascii file sizes Yet another suggestion sed

hi- I never tried on a 1 gig file but i think sed would work (try head -10 bigfile >testfile to build a test case to debug your sed script)

I am not sure if this could solve your problem, but I made very good
experiences with nedit... (although 1 GB is a lot)

Hello,

Does anyone know a way around editing the header of ascii files (to be
imported
into grass using r.in.ascii) that are over 1 gig? VI does not work and
I'm wondering
if someone knows of alternative text editors that could be used....

thanks, alynne.
