r.in.ascii r.out.ascii

hi
  has anybody tried to do export a raster map from grass and import
it back again.

I tried to do that but i don't know why i am not able to get the
original map back

Any idea .Thanks for the help

r.out.ascii does not carry with it any of the ascii support files (with
the exception of the optional cellheader information). Thus the cats,
cell_misc, colr and hist files all need to be transferred or recreated
if you are re-importing a given r.out.ascii file. These support files
are all ascii files and relatively small, thus are easy to send,
attach, etc to an ascii raster file. Hope this helps.
