r.mapcalc debugger?

Brad Cadle writes:

I have a rather lengthy r.mapcalc script I am trying to debug.
unfortunately the only message i get from mapcalc is rather uninformative.
It says you have confused me. Does a r.mapcalc debugger exist, and if so
where?

No, there is no r.mapcalc debugger (afaik). The 'confused' message
usually has to do with missing ')' or because the mapcalc statement is
continued on the next line without a '\' sign to remind mapcalc that the
statement is to be continued. In vi you can check the sequence of
brackets by using the % sign, that jumps to the end or beginning of
the bracketed section.

Hope this helps a little; enjoy your day!

Thanks to everyone who respond to my request. As it turned out the problom was
that I had a space just after the \ on the same line. This apparently confused
r.mapcalc. Again thanks for the responses.
