I'd like to be able to use r.watershed or some variant to delineate watershed
boundaries given known forecast, or stream gage, points, rather than letting
the software determine the downstream boundary of the watersheds. Any ideas?

This is a problem, and I hope someone will reply with a solution. I ended
up using GRASS 3.1, which was still available around here at the time, so
that I could choose my outlet point. It is hard to understand why one can
not choose in GRASS 4.0. Any suggestions?

I have a program that might help for all of you out there, this program
was modified from r.watershed code and added several others to make it
easy in selecting the watershed outlet. I have only compiled version out
in brcsun1.tamu.edu anonymous ftp site under pub/outgoing/auto_wshd
directory called r.auto_wshd and r.drain.pt
The programs are compiled in sun4 platform. If there is enough
interest I will put it in incoming moon. I donot have any
man pages for these programs.

Both the programs have to be in your path to work.
r.auto_wshd is a front end for r.drain.pt program.
It is not complete by any means. It was a quick fix for some
of my needs.
