maybe it's just a case problem. Try asking for a featuretype name with
exactly the same case as it appears in the list of feature types for the
given datastore in the gui application.
If this doesn't work, please send me some more info about your problem. A
stack trace could be helpfull.
Be sure to specify the full qualified name of your feature type on your WMS
or WFS request, for example:
http://host/geoserver/wms/GetMap?LAYERS=SDE.SDE.LAYER_NAME1,SDE.SDE.LAYER_NA
ME2&WIDTH=....
There is a jira task to allow for non full qualified names to be specified
as well as to leave the "instance" parameter blank and use the default sde
database for the given connection. Actually if you do not specify the
instance name the datastore will say this parameter is mandatory. I just
figured out it is not, hope to resolve it as soon as possible.
Please continue sending feedback about your use of ArcSDEDataStore, since it
is the only way I could ensure it works in ohter environments than my own
desk
best regards,
Gabriel Roldán

Asunto: [Geoserver-devel] ArcSDE - please help
I downloaded geoserver rc1.2, and it looks very promising. Web interface
works just fine under Tomcat 5.0.19, I can add ArcSDE datastore and
featureTypes just fine. The problem is that even though my ArcSDE layers
show up in the Capabilities document (and information about them seems
correct), when I try a getFeature (WFS) or getMap (WMS) I get a "no such
layer found in this server" exception. I have tried to put the instance
name before the table name as suggested by the documentation (info.xml
file, by hand), but this makes the layer disappear in the Capabilities
document.
I have set up the parameters for the DataStore correctly, since those same
parameters are used in other applications (ArcGIS, custom apps.) and they
work fine.
I am quite confused, some help might be very appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Juan Marín Otero
