Sorry I must have missed this the first time around.
Chris, I think what Paul wants is slightly different from a
textSymbolizer (though to be SLD compliant that's the way to go). I
think Paul wants to use a symbol font to provide marks. I wrote the
original TextMark code to handle this case (mostly because styling
mapinfo files needed it). A far as I know it works - the problem is
finding out which unicode character you need to use to reference the
font characters. The other problem is that you pretty much lose platform
independence once you start to rely on installed fonts.
So feel free to play with the TextMark code and if you need any help
give me a shout.
Ian

Subject: Re: [Geoserver-devel] TextMarkSorry for the late response, haven't been able to clear my inbox for
awhile.I _think_ what you're looking for is a Text Symbolizer - used
for styling
label texts. I believe it allows you to specify a lot more
than a graphic
- you can do fonts, displacements, anchor locations and the like.If you have some time it could be nice for you to write up
some of your SLD learning in the introduction to SLD that I started:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOS/SLD+Intro (it's a wiki,
sign up for an account and then you can edit the page) Even
if it's nothing more than attaching your sample SLD files, it
could definitely help people in the future - I'd eventually
like to turn it into a resource for anyone getting started
with SLD, since there are no real good tutorials online.best regards,
Chris

If this is
