I have not tried the standalone version yet.
I've been running 1.3.0 with none of these problems - I thought due to
Justin's reply that maybe it was because I had not removed that version
before installing 1.3.1, but after removing both versions and
reinstalling 1.3.1 I get the same result.
Ok, I've just removed 1.3.1 again completely and deployed 1.3.0 again.
It's throwing exactly the same thing so I guess it's not a 1.3.1 bug so
sorry for jumping in thinking it was - something must have changed on
our system since the last time I deployed it but I have no idea what -
Java hasn't been touched, we're running version 1.4.2_05 with Jrun, and
have been for ages. Java 5 isn't on the system.
However, it's just occurred to me that we've been playing with jrun's VM
settings to resolve some problems we were having with coldfusion. Could
the error possibly be related to that? We increased the MaxHeapSize to
1gb and increased the MaxPermSize to 256mb.
I've tested 1.3.1 on a different machine with the same JVM settings and
it works as expected. However the log that I get from the machine that I
need to use is quite strange (please see attached). It really does seem
to have a problem with that

Subject: Re: [Geoserver-users] GeoServer 1.3.1-beta releaseIn my experience a NoSuchMethodError usually means one of two things:
1. Duplicate entries of a class on your classpath
2. A java 4 vs java 5 problem.-Justin
