Just out of curiosity, how did you install Grass 6.0? I would think that you
would also need superuser privileges to install 6.0.

When installing GRASS for Windows with cygwin , at the step select your internet connection: as Direct connection (as especified in the point 2 of the manual http://geni.ath.cx/grass.html#toc6) I get the error: Can't get the list of download sites. Make sure your network settings are correct and try again.
Can anyone explain me what to do now...? should I select another internet connection?

Instead of installing from the internet directly , i installed it from a CD. Found it more convinient.
First i downloaded the .iso image file and then burnt it on a CD.
Given below is the link for downloading the .iso image file (~500MB) for installing cygwin GRASS
https://www.geographie.uni-freiburg.de/~mlechner/CygwinGRASS/CygwinGRASS-0.4.iso
/
This single image file when burnt onto a CD, forms the following files and folders on it:
autorun.inf ,//setup.exe,// grass.ico, oldCygwinGRASS-0.2.1_install.pdf,
repository, //, Handbücher.//
On loading the CD on CDROM drive, the installation process should start automatically.
With the help of CygwinGRASS-0.2.2_install.pdf manual i carried out the installation./

As "producer" of the CygwinGRASS-Image I just have to point out, that it is based on a GRASS-CVS-Version from Spring 2005 (but it
works well - just doesn't inlude all the features developed since then)
