To my surprise, I haven't seen in the wish list allowing Locations to be
created based on one geocoded file instead of manually defining a
location.
This isn't true; you CAN create a location from automatically from an EPSG
code; this speeds up the creation of a Grass location immensely. Select 'Use
EPSG values' from the Grass intro screen, enter the code that matches your
projection/datum, and voila.
surprising is the zoom/pan capabilities buried in menus instead of
working right away on the display. I'm not sharing this as
discontentment, I just want GRASS to improve
Grass has improved by leaps and bounds over a very short period of time.
When you consider that it's a volunteer project with researchers donating
their time, it's truly mind boggling how high-quality Grass is. FYI, the
zoom/pan tools have their own GUI buttons in Grass 6.1 - if I recall
correctly, even Grass 6.0 had zoom tools on the display manager.
