The IDRISI GIS program includes a module that will convert 8-bit tiff
files to a raster file that is identical to the GRASS cell format.
Put the converted file in the CELL directory in GRASS and run
r.support.

Having read your E mail I went in and did the same thing that
was said. ie convert to a sunrast format using xv and then doing a
r.in.sunrast. The conversion was fine but when I got the image onto
the monitor all I get was a blank screen. I then tried to run the
r.in.tiff and it said that the command was not found.
My research is mainly to convert a collection os tiff and giff
files and bring it up on grass. Please help my with the following.

a) Where do I get the r.in.tiff command file
b) Do you guys know of any utility program that can convert from
giff and tiff files to the grass formats.

Please do not ignore this E Mail. Since we are working on a similar
problem let us try to help each other.
Thanks
