We have tried to take GRASS 4.1 via ftp.

We attempted to take the binary files for Solaris.

We get a checksum error and segmentation fault when we
try to unpack the binaries.

We reported the problems to Rutgers but there does not seem to be any
idea on when the problem might be investigated.

Can you shed any light on the problem?

Peter Canter

Peter,

I had no problem ftping and unpacking the Solaris/Grass binaries from
moon.

Your problem probably was in NOT using the binary transfer mode while in
ftp. Type "bin" while in ftp, followed by "prompt" to go into non-interactive
mode. Then type "mget sol*" to grab all of the Solaris/Grass binaries and
the assocated README. Read the README to make sure you issue the unpacking
command properly, "cat sol.4.tar.Z.* | zcat | tar xvpof -".
