Hello,
Having tried to load Grass 4.1 on to my Alpha, i have finally been able to
get past the compilation problem by using the axp binaries .
When I start up Grass, from my start up file "Grass.start" shown below
:
GISBASE=/proj/ice/MODELS/Grass.alpha/axp
export GISBASE
exec $GISBASE/etc/GIS.sh
I am prompted with the GRASS 4.1 menu screen as shown
GRASS 4.1
LOCATION: This is the name of an available geographic location. -spearfish-
is the sample data base for which all tutorials are written.
MAPSET: Every GRASS session runs under the name of a MAPSET. Associated
with each MAPSET is a rectangular COORDINATE REGION and a list
of any new maps created.
DATABASE: This is the unix directory containing the geographic databases
The REGION defaults to the entire area of the chosen LOCATION.
You may change it later with the command: g.region
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
LOCATION: sfbay_________ (enter list for a list of locations)
MAPSET: dunnj_________ (or mapsets within a location)
DATABASE: /regis/data_______________________________________
AFTER COMPLETING ALL ANSWERS, HIT <ESC> TO CONTINUE
(OR <Ctrl-C> TO CANCEL)
As I haven't got any datasets etc , I wanted to know how to proceed, i have the source code etc for Grass4.1 and presume that spearfish (the example database )
is here somewhere , although I am unable to find it.
Any suggestions as to where it is etc, and how to access it using grass, also
what am I expecting to see.
Thank you
Jeremy
