STELLA and DYNAMO

Does anybody Know STELLA or DYNAMO, a system designed to be used in the context
of design, forecasting and evaluation, and it covers environmental, social and
economical impacts?

I know of a simulation modeling package for MacIntosh computers, called
STELLA. Currently it is being ported to Microsoft Windows for DOS boxes,
but I'm not aware of a UNIX release. As I recall, it is by a company
called High Performance something-or-other. Sorry, I can't find my
files at the moment.

We are trying to implement a hydrological, environmental and social model in
a Watershed using GRASS, and maybe STELLA could be useful for us.

STELLA is a general simulation modeling package. You can use it to create
whatever models you want, as long as you are using pools and flows and
time increments, basically. A number of pre-packaged models may be
available, but I'm not familiar with any that do the particular
combinations you are looking for. Professors in my Department use it
for soil ecosystem modeling, nutrient cycling models, that kind of thing.
It is especially suited to instruction, because the programming part of
modeling is pretty much hidden from the student: you create the model
by drawing the pools and flows and such. It can be a useful tool for
serious research as well.
