I think it would be helpful to have a dedicated subcategory for Announcements, specifically for things like new releases and security advisories (CVE notifications, etc.).
This would make finding these important messages much quicker and also enable notifications as they are posted

We are all new to discourse, I wonder if we could use tags for announcements?
I tagged a couple releases: try it out
For security … we switched to CVE to make things normal, there are lots of tools to search that database. I do not feel that duplicating the effort here adds much value?
One challenge with security is to have a single point of truth. A goal in switching to the security advisories to avoid duplication and the risk of folks finding out of date or incomplete information and becoming upset.
The CVE database does record a history of each time we update an announcement, but has the advantage of always providing the latest information.

Yes, a tag can also be a good solution for this. But is it possible to set notifications on specific tags? I cannot find how to enable them…
I do not see a way to watch multiple tags, so perhaps this approach will not help:
So while we can watch any individual tag, we cannot watch both at once.
By the same idea we can search for a tag within a category:
But I also do not see a way to watch the result.
