I am still having problems reading in my dems. This is the output from the command m.dem.examine. Note the resolution (0)

  We were having trouble with importing a DEM recently and it turned out
to be the way we were reading the tape and NOT the m.dem.extract command.
Make sure that when you are reading your tape that you are using a
variable record length so that you get the last block that is not always
a full record length. This took care of our problem.
