Is there a way of overlaying vector maps on d.3d with
raster maps also. I would like to combine vector and raster map on top of
the 3-d display.

p.map allows raster and vector output. Using the CELL paint driver, you can
create "layers" that have p.map output and then use d.3d on this "layer"
