I can not help you, but because I am experiencing the same problem I
would like to ask you if hou have found the answer to the problem.
The only working solution I have found is to use the driver supplied
with GRASS 4.0, it works OK with Grass 4.1.
There is a bug in the x-driver. It doesn't handle the window-manager
"quit" request properly. Some implementations of X send events when the
mouse moves into the window that cause the x-driver to think it should
quit. This is really a bug in the x-driver and not a bug in the
implementation of X.
This fix will be part of the first update package for grass4.1. This
update should be ready very soon. It will be announced on these forums
when it is ready.
