to different users of GRASS

Can anyone tell me how to tackle this problem?

Today I tried to install GRASS 5 beta3 in Linux. First I unzipped the
binary file (single file containing everything for beta 3) using
gunzip and tar -xvf respectively after that I installed.

It failed to open after installation is over. There were 20 lines of
error message like this

/usr/local/grass5/dev/create_fifos_new.sh: /usr/local/grass5.0b
/dev/fifo.19b: No such file or directory

But in dev directory create_fifos.sh and create_fifos_new.sh
files are existing.

I also want to know whether AGNPS model is inbuilt in
GRASS 5 beta 3 or not.

2. The existing module for r.hydro.CASC2D can simulate
sediment / erosion? Because my primary area of concern is
sediment modelling

Thank you for your help

Concerning your first question, you must edit the appropriate lines
in the create_fifos_new.sh file to point to the directory where grass
was installed. After that you should run the edited file to create the
fifos:
  sh create_fifos_new.sh

Good luck

Hi Grass comunity,

Is there anybody working with these databases. And if so, I need some help
in how to set up my own project database. I don't understand the brief
Introduction for Gdbase. For example: if I have the spearfish database how
do I can link it to gdbase or postgres.

Thanks,

Hi Grass comunity,

Is there anybody working with this module. I mean modelling wildlife
species distribution or something in relation with biodiversity management.
I don't know if it is possible.

Thanks

Antonio,

We've got a guy here working on something similar. Binfer should
work well for you in this capacity. I think they were using a
combination of r.binfer with r.le. Looking at bird migration patterns
and biodiversity in mountainous regions. I'll find out and get back with
you.

Antonio,

This is what I understand to be the situation: there are some old
GRASS/postgres bindings around. New ones are being developed in Italy. I,
too, need to see the current postgres-6.5.2 usable with GRASS 5. However, I
don't know how to go about linking them as I've never done anything like
this before. But, I'm willing to assist with any and all such efforts.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks a lot, I'll wait for your suggestions.

Hi Rich,

Me too. I just was able to run my postgress6.3 but how to link it to grass
is still a mistery.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your response. I think you are a valuable
contributor to the list, I use to save tour comments an ideas. I'm just
beginning in this gis-world, and everything good is wellcomed.

Best regards,

Antonio
