Hi All,
Does anyone know where I can find a lat/long based file of the state
boundaries for the U.S. and/or boundaries for the Canadian Provinces for
input into GRASS? I did not realize that this would be difficult to
find, but after browsing numerous ftp sites and talking to other GRASS
users I have become frustrated at how scarce the data is.Much thanks in advance.

Andrew,
I put a compressed tar file called us_map.tar.Z on our ftp server
(129.229.20.254) under the /grass/incoming directory. It is a latlon map
of the U.S. and it is in Platte Carree projection. The tar file contents
are:
/dig/us_map
/dig_att/us_map
/dig/di_plus
You can change the projection of this map using Proj4.0 (or 4.1).
If you use ArcInfo, the U.S. map may also be available off of ESRI's
home page. I'm not sure of that though. Don't forget to download the file
in the binary ftp mode. Sorry that I don't have Canada's borders though.
