v.digit, xdigit, mouse digitizer

Hi everybody,

I am introducing myself here as a newbie to grass
(and to GIS in general). We have grass4.1.5 running
under LINUX (the Andreas Holz CD transferred to disk).

Trying to crate an ad-hoc mask for gridding (sorry,
"rasterizing") site-values I could not figure how
to work the "mouse-digitizer"

No matter how may points I "digitized" either
with "v.digit" or "xdigit" and no matter what
mouse buttons I pressed, I got the answer:
"only one point digitized - ignoring".

What this means is that you are trying to digitize points that are closer
together than your digitizing threshold. Go to the Customize menu and
make your digitizing threshold and snapping threshold smaller. Note that
these are scale-dependent, so the scale that you specify in the
introductory screen is _very_ crucial to digitizing operations. Hope that
fixes you up!

Quite a frustrating experience. The mouse
works fine in all other cases and as I can't make
any sense out of the documetation in "digit.ps" nor
the man pages, I'm asking for help.

What's wrong here ??

Thanks, Andreas
