v.report bugs?

And for my second message of the day, I want to ask something about
v.report. There are two things that surprise me with this program. First,
the message 'expected 99 category codes read in only 16' comes up, and
then the program exits. No wonder, because the vector map in question has
only 16 different values, although they range from 1 to 99. Is there a
way around this annoying 'fatal error', or should I use v.reclass to
actually get categories from 1 to 16? Secondly, I tried to measure the
length of rivers on a 1:25,000 topographical map with v.report, and
specified that it should be in kilometers. The total length of rivers on
this map came to 5,69e+08. Seems a bit too much to me... what's wrong
here, is the program only capable of using feet? Thanks for any advice!
