Warning messages v.support

Just to get rid of some of my annoyance regarding v.support: does the
warning 'area 7 label 1 matched other label 1' sound familiar to you?
Can anybody tell me how to get rid of these 'double' labels? I really
can't see how to find these particular labels in a dig_att file that
may contain over 4000 labels, as there is no link to the area's internal
number. The same story goes for the infamous 'PNT_TO_AREA failed' message,
althought this gives the coordinates of the sources of error, so theoretically
you should be able to find them.

Secondly: can the people managing this list try to prevent messages like
'dir' and 'ping' or the returned mail from some unknown host being spread
over the net? Last week I got about 15 of these useless messages...

I get that message sometimes too. The only way I have gotten rid of them is
when I exit v.digit and am asked if I want to compress the data I select yes
(the default is no) v.clean does not work for me as it doent seem to delete
the deleted labels. Compressing the atts file seems to work. If you know of
a way to compress the atts file without going through v.digit, please let me
know. I only seem to get this prompt when I make some sort of change to the
dig file, so sometimes I have to go in, add a line and then delete it. Then
when I exit digit I get the compression prompt.

Hope this makes sense and helps. If not e-mail me and I'll try to explain it
better.
