We have finally got xgrass compiled up with its motif libraries etc, and have
let our experienced user at it. He's reported a couple of problems
1. using xgdatabases, it does know the value of GISBASE, but works ok after
a setenv of it.
2. after displaying a raster map, he cant query it;i.e. r.what hangs
3. after displaying a number of raster files, he gets the message 'too many open raster files, unable to open raster map..
not able to open cellfile for...
4. finally, for now, it also looses track of the monitor;- says its not there.
I have also compiled everything on my Apollos, except pixmap and xdigit.
I have noted some things in my first test runs:
1. If you want to start the XDRIVER monitors from the menu, it seems like
the menu doesn't look which monitors that are available in the
$GISBASE/etc/monitorcap file. I have always had my own names on the monitors
since I have created the fifo-files locally on each machine. I have monitor
names that corresponds to the machine names. However in the xgrass menu
to select monitors there only appears the standard names: x0, x1, x2 ....
which I am not using.
2. I have to by new hardware since xgrass is painfully slow on our old
machines!!!!
