---------------------------------------- CALL FOR PARTICIPATION First IQmulus Contest 2013 ---------------------------------------- at ISPRS Workshop Laser Scanning 2013 September 30, deadline for expression of interest Introduction The objective of the IQmulus Contest is to enable reproducible evaluation of the performance of geospatial data processing such as point cloud registration and alignment, feature extraction, classification, detection and characterization of dynamic events through the creation of benchmarks and evaluation methodologies. Besides the selection of test datasets with a ground truth, the IQmulus contest will also provide a platform where the participant will be able to run their methods in a unique and standard infrastructure. The IQmulus contest is featured by the EU IQmulus project (http://www.iqmulus.eu/) and encourages the participation of the whole scientific community as well as specific user groups. The IQmulus contest 2013 will feature two tracks, namely, registration and feature extraction: 1. Registration track: sets of point clouds will be provided and the participants will be asked to register them. 2. Feature extraction track focuses on the extraction of drainage basins from a DEM. The quality of the results will be evaluated in terms of accuracy with respect to pre-defined ground-truth maps. One of the aspects considered by the contest is also the size of the datasets, the capability of the methods to scale to different data size, and the computational efficiency of the methods expressed, for example, by their memory usage and computational complexity. The evaluation results of the contest will be presented during the ISPRS Workshop Laser Scanning 2013, Antalya, Turkey, 11-13 November 2013. Procedure The following list is a step-by-step description of the activities: 1) Potential participants send their expression of interest to the address silvia “at “ ge.imati.cnr.it with the indication of the software/libraries and operating system environment they need 2) Instructions are sent to participants (datasets, access to the infrastructure) 3) The participant upload their algorithms in the common infrastructure, run their methods and the organizers collect the results. 4) The results of evaluation are sent to the participants and combined. 5) The description of the tracks and their results are presented at the ISPRS Workshop Laser Scanning 2013, Antalya, Turkey, 11-13 November 2013 IQmulus Time Schedule September 30, 2013 - deadline for the expression of interest of the participants October 4, 2013 - the datasets and the infrastructure are made available. The executables start to run. October, 2013 - The two tracks run and the participants are informed of the results. November 11-13, 2013 - presentation of the IQmulus contest Organization For information about the contest, the results, etc. see the IQmulus home page (http://www.iqmulus.eu/).
