About world image

Going through our QuickStarts … they make use of world image.

It was something I had intended to address before 3.0.0 release; but perhaps we can restore this for the next update.

I expect this will be a common feedback as folks upgrade?

The geotiff from natural earth is georeferenced and opens with no problem

I don’t believe it’s going to be particularly relevant, the quickstart just needs to be fixed: the default
data directory does not contain world image nor arcgrid any more, they have been replaced by
georeferenced tiffs.

The format is a very poor choice to start with, it does not belong in core, we just need to
wipe the last remaining stragglers in the docs.

Preferably with a short note to use gdal to convert it to a sensible format

Andrea and I were able to confirm the Natural Earth data opened without issue as GeoTIFF. I am not sure what I was doing wrong yesterday
