We are launching the 2026 election of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) on Monday 28 September 2026. The PSC currently has nine (9) members. In this election, five (5) seats are open for renewal, offering an opportunity for new members to join the committee.

The nominating and voting process is explained in full detail in the Wiki (https://grasswiki.osgeo.org/wiki/PSC_Election_2026).

In summary the election will proceed as follows:

  • announcement of elections: 2026-09-14
  • nomination period: 2026-09-28 to 2026-10-19
  • presentation of the candidates: 2026-10-19 to 2026-10-26
  • voting period: 2026-11-02 to 2026-11-09
  • announcement of the newly elected PSC: 2026-11-14 (at latest)

Eligible voters are people who:

If your data appears with an “incomplete” label, or if you believe you meet the criteria but do not find your name, or if you find your name but do not want to receive an invitation to vote, please contact the CRO (cro.grass@osgeo.org) before 27 September 2026.

GRASS GIS election 2026

Hi Hernán,

Not being active at all anymore (even though I still enjoy following GRASS development from afar), I ponder about my legitimacy as a voter and wonder whether the criteria of eligibility of voters should be enhanced with a timeframe. In other words, should the four criteria be completed with a “within the last 5/10/X years” ? Probably too late for this election, but maybe something the project should think about ? ISTR that we had this discussion at one point in time, but can’t really remember why we decided not to go down that road.

Moritz

Hi Moritz,

Good point. As you mention, it is too late to implement timeframes in this election, but something we definitely can think for the next one.

Best

Hernán

Hi Moritz!

Nice to hear from you!

A timeframe has already been considered; right now, we are including contributors from the last 2 PSC mandates, as decided during a PSC meeting 2 years ago: PSC Meeting 2024-08-09 - GRASS-Wiki.

Cheers,

Vero
