Dear Grass users,
I’m wondering if there is a simple way (perhaps a dedicated add-on) to calculate a constant slope path given a digital elevation model, a starting point, and a slope value.
Thanks for any advice !
I am not aware of any tool for that, but r.walk would be the closest I can think of.
Thank you Anna for this hint, I’ll try to dig a bit deeper in that direction. On another hand beside the raster approach, I was thinking of a vector solution upon a tin representation of the terrain.
That could be a good approach, v.to.db can compute slope so in combination with the network tools that could work. It might be a nice addon. Let me know if it works.
Surprisingly for myself, I’ve never had this kind of need (as a more-than-twenty-year-grass-old-user) but I was confident some historical grass raster tool would have long solved this rather trivial civil engineering task.
Thank again for your interest.
One more idea, there is v.civil addon toolset, you can check that one.
oops, I missed this.
