Hello @massimiliano-cannata, @danistrigaro, and @claudio-primerano,
I hope you are doing well.
I have been following the istSOS Setup Configuration Wizard project from GSoC 2025, including Rahul Bansal’s community bonding report, final report, and the current state of the istSOS4-wizard repository. The project feels extremely impactful, especially in reducing the deployment barrier for new istSOS users through a guided configuration workflow.
I am planning to apply for GSoC 2026 and wanted to reach out early to understand whether there is scope to continue or extend this work further. After reviewing the repository and documentation, I see a few possible directions that could be valuable, such as:
- deeper backend validation through tighter integration with istSOS4 APIs,
- improved error handling and diagnostics during configuration,
- support for more advanced deployment scenarios (production presets, multi-instance setups),
- or improving long-term maintainability and contributor-facing documentation.
Before moving forward, I wanted to ask:
- Whether continuing work on the istSOS4 Wizard would be relevant for GSoC 2026, and
- Which areas you feel would be most valuable or currently underexplored.
I’d be happy to start with small contributions or discussions to better align with the project’s roadmap and community needs.
Thank you for your time, and for your continued work supporting the istSOS and OSGeo communities.
Best regards,
Alizah Syeda
