Hi all,
We’re building an open-standards spatial registry for climate and nature action in Aotearoa New Zealand, and we’re looking for a geospatial backend engineer to own it from schema to API.
The stack is PostGIS + pygeoapi (OGC API Features), with a FastAPI service layer and a hash/pointer interface connecting to a decentralised Solid/DID identity layer. The registry deliberately holds no nature data itself — just spatial records, content hashes, and WebID-linked pointers to contributor-controlled Pledge data stores. Clean architecture, greenfield build, open source.
This contract will start with a very short MVP implementation to support an urgent situation with a Cyclone imminent. Beyond a first 3 weeks, we will brief the full infrastructure specification.
Role can be remote, or hosted in New Zealand.
The project is Toha Network (toha.network).
If this sounds like your kind of problem, or you know someone it might suit, we’d love to hear from you. The community this post reaches is exactly the talent pool we’re hoping to find.
Thanks
