There doesn’t seem to be much forum content in regards to FOSS4G events and committees.
We know that FOSS4G 2026 will be held in Hiroshima, Japan. Is there any more information in this regard? It would be great to have at least the date confirmed.
Is there any information in regards to the bidding process for FOSS4G 2027 and beyond?
Are there any plans to integrate the FOSS4G conference committee mailing list into the discourse forum?
I have received following information from Nobusuke Iwasaki of OSGeo Japan in repsonse to my question to the conference_dev mailing list.
The conference week will be August 30 – September 5, 2026.
- Workshops: August 30–31
- Main Conference: September 1–3
- Code Sprint and Community Events: September 4–5
Workshops will be held in a rented conference facility near Hiroshima Station.
The main conference will take place at the Hiroshima International Conference Center, and the code sprint venue is still under discussion.
By late August, the hottest season in Japan has passed, but Hiroshima will still be quite warm.
