Geo Server Logon page loading with error as "An error occurred while loading the page Oops, something went wrong..."

Hi,

We have upgraded to 2.27.2 version.

Logon page is displaying with error message as

An error occurred while loading the page

Oops, something went wrong…

Could please you share with us the previous version of your GeoServer instance? It would be great also to know how you deploy GeoServer (war file, stand alone install, docker image) and the OS you are deploying on!

Hello @Satish this is one of my most frustrating problems to encounter, and it used to happen more often before @groldan did some work to make catalog changes more robust.

Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Could not locate a layer or layer group with id LayerInfoImpl–575839bc:18779a938f3:-7f71 within GeoServer configuration, the GWC configuration seems to be out of synch

What happens is, perhaps when moving a layer, the geowebcache tileset is still present. So when GeoWebCache TileSet goes to find the Layer that is making the content - the connection cannot be made.

So specifically you need to search GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR location, the folder gwc-layers will contain a bunch of the xml files (one for each TileSet).

Go through these files and locate the one that contains LayerInfoImpl–575839bc:18779a938f3:-7f71 … and delete that xml file.

So to fix this you are manually cleaning up a configuration change that did not completely work, deleting the layer, but not deleting its TileSet.
