[GeoNetwork-devel] CFV / Batch editing

Dear PSC

Here is a proposal to edit a set of records using the XPath API:
https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/pull/1469

Looking forward to your votes.

Thanks.

Hi Francois

Looks a nice option, +1 for me.

For future versions would be great to unify with the batch replacer.

Another question, what happens if a record doesn’t have one of the edited fields? it’s added or just ignored for the metadata?

Regards,
Jose García

Definitely, there is quite some overlap between those features but still batch replacer is useful for some cases.

Another question, what happens if a record doesn’t have one of the edited fields? it’s added or just ignored for the metadata?

They are automatically inserted based on the schema definition and this is quite useful compared to XSL processing where inserting a non existing element is a pain (require to check all parents and then insert the element in correct siblings order). With the changes made to the XPath API in this proposal, it could probably be quite useful in the editor too now (also for wizard based one).

Cheers.

Francois
