[GeoNetwork-devel] Docker Official Image for GeoNetwork

Hi,

As of today, GeoNetwork does not have an official docker image yet.

The idea behind official images is to have reliable images, built on best practices, which can in one hand be reused as base images, and on the other hand, be adopted by users who just want to try the software without the “headaches” of configuring it.

Having an official image of GeoNetwork, which is easy to use, but at the same time flexible enough to allow (near-)production configuration, could be a great benefit for current, or potential GeoNetwork users.

I made a pull request for adding such image to the official docker repository. It is currently supporting the latest releases of GeoNetwork (3.0.5 and 3.2.0), but the idea is to keep maintaining it, by adding new releases.

Before going further, I would like to know if I can count with the “blessing” of the GeoNetwork upstream team regarding this official image, or if you have any concerns.

In case you want to check out the code, the official image is made of a series of repositories. This one has the actual code:

https://github.com/GeoCat/geonetwork-official-images

While this one has the documentation:

https://github.com/GeoCat/docs/tree/geonetwork/geonetwork

If you want to contribute to this image, by all means feel free to do so.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Best wishes,

Joana

Hi Joana

+1 for me, but I think should be moved to the GitHub GeoNetwork repository instead of the actual GeoCat repository.

+1 to making the image really official instead of a "GeoCat" flavour.
