[GeoNetwork-devel] Error when user tries to reset the password in 3.0.x

Hi List,

I’m using 3.0.5-snapshot (updated today) and getting the error reported here: https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/issues/1258 by MaelREBOUX. The issue has been closed in 3.0.4 but I’m wondering if that particular error (“only registered users can change their password using this option” has actually been fixed or if it was just the original bug that was fixed?

If this is expected behaviour then surely if this option is only available to registered users then it should be hidden on the page to other user types?

Hi

For me looks a bug, the option Forgot your password, should work for any valid user, not only for registered users.

Checking the code, the problem is here: https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/blob/3.0.x/services/src/main/java/org/fao/geonet/services/password/SendLink.java#L86-L90

There’s an explicit check about the Registered User profile. For me doesn’t make sense, as other profiles I think should be able to reset the password. I have created this issue to track it: https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/issues/1664
