[GeoNetwork-devel] GeoNetwork 3.0 search form - dates

Hi

I have some questions about the date search fields in the GeoNetwork 3.0:

  1. At the top are displayed in a bar graphic several years, but no indication of what is filtering this section or what represents the bar size.

When selecting a year, the query searches for the createDateYear lucene field, so I guess the size of the bar represents the total metadata with date type=creation for that year.

I think would be good to add some label and tooltip for this section.

  1. There’s 2 date sections below:
  • Resources created at, this queries the createDate lucene field, metadata with date type=creation

  • Records created at, this queries the changeDate lucene field. The label doesn’t seem very clear.

At least for me, is not very clear when I access the form (without knowing the internal fields in the query) what is the difference between Resources and Records. Is this using some clear naming for users?

Regards,
Jose García

For the graphics, this was more an experiment that I'm about to drop as
facet on year is much easier to use.

Hi Francois

Thanks for the feedback.

What do you think about the 2on point? The texts displayed for the other date filters is something that was agreed in the codesprint last month?

We did not discuss much the advanced search form which probably needs more
work (or to be dropped entirely ?), but "resources" and "records" sounds
clear to me... but maybe other label could be used. Any suggestions ?
"metadata" instead of "records" ?

Hi

If for you is clear the difference, sounds fine.

The only stuff would be to change the label a bit to indicate changed instead of created for the records section. Records modified or similar label.
