[GeoNetwork-devel] GSoC 2017

Hi devs,

I am Adam Laza and I am student of geoinformatics at CTU in Prague. Last year I participated in GSoC with GRASS GIS project 1 and it was fun! Few weeks ago I took over maintenance of GN metadata catalogue for Digital map collection3 so I’ve started to dive into GeoNetwork.

I’d like to know if there is any idea page with projects and contact to mentors. I don’t know if I have enough knowledge of Java and enough GN background but I’d like to look at the ideas and maybe discuss them a little bit to get know if I can participate this year again and contribute to GN.

Thanks in advance.

Adam

You can ask here if you have any questions but you can't always expect an
answer. Personally I think that community of geonetwork is not very active
and ready to help...

Hi

I think there was mail about Google Summer of Code time ago from my colleague Maria, will check with her to contact you Adam.

Amacar, about been ready to help, I guess we try to do the best, although not all the questions get solved or answered. Also note that it’s not a big community and the support provided in the lists is for free and in a volunteer way, but we have also projects to work on.There’re some companies doing developments around GeoNetwork, you can find some of them listed in http://geonetwork-opensource.org/, that provide support contracts.

Regards,
Jose García

Hi Adam,

A few weeks ago I sent an email to mentor GeoNetwork:
https://sourceforge.net/p/geonetwork/mailman/message/35622919/

But I need a backup mentor to do this. And nobody else wanted to be
mentor. The deadline for mentoring proposals was more than a month
ago. If you can be student and I can be still mentor, please, count
with me. It will be great to have more developers involved in the
project! I am just not sure we are in time for that.

This week and next week I will be personally a bit more busy so I
cannot manage to ask and search for the right procedure. If you can
find a way to do it, I will be available for that from april on
