Hi James,
Nice to see you on the list. I'm sure your team will provide an excellent contribution to Geonetwork.
On the house keeping front,
* I assume there will be a few of your team looking for commit access? If so you will need to request accounts for each of them, and have each developer accept committer responsibilities.
* I suggest that a CSIRO representative (probably you) accepts the committer responsibilities on behalf of CSIRO.
* When you are ready, request access to get geonetwork subversion access. I'd recommend requesting access to the sandbox directory first, as this gives you the opportunity to commit your code and for others to review it and confirm that you know how to write code.

Hi,
I'm part of an established Java development team within CSIRO (the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Australia's national science agency). We generally work on a mixture of business and science applications. Working with Simon Pigot and also the Auscope team we are looking into the use of GeoNetwork in CSIRO. In addition to using the product we are also keen to contribute to the project. Our initial focus is on the BlueNet MEST version of GeoNetwork.
One of the important things for us is to be able to collaborate not just within our organisation but also with other Australian research institutions. Some of the data cannot be generally released but should be available to particular research communities. So we are getting involved in the Australian Access Federation, which is a Shibboleth based authentication and access system that operates across many Australian universities and other research institutions.
To that end one of the first things we are interested in contributing is Shibboleth integration into GeoNetwork. I have prepared a proposal and will post that on the Trac wiki for review shortly. I thought I should do an intro before posting the proposal out of the blue though!
Lastly I have read over and accept the Committer Responsibility Guidelines at _http://trac.osgeo.org/geonetwork/wiki/committer_.
Cheers,
