Hi Michael,

I'm sorry I didn't respond to you previous email. I have been busy.

I believe that your method of using MD_AggregationInformation is one way of
making that connect between metadata records if you feel that the search for
"those who have myself as a parentidentifier" is not suitable.

If you are relating "series", "dataset", "featureType" etc. metadata then you
could use the DS_DataSet element which "has" many metadata records. I think
that GeoNetwork implements this but I am not sure.

This probably doesn't help much but I'm glad to see that someone else is
thinking about how to relate metadata.

Hi,
I put a question a week ago on use of hierachical metadata.
The questions was probably to fuzzy to get a simple answer on.

I therefore make an other in the same area.
The use of the element ParentIdentifier.
With use of these it makes it possible to make a parent
/child relationship
for hierarchical records.

A drawback is though that if you have a parentrecord and
wants to see "where
are my childs" I have to go through all other records to find
those who have myself as a parentidentifier. To solve this I have used
MD_AggregationInformation and added "isPartOf" and
"areComposedOf" to the
associationTypeCodes.

In this way I can solve 1:m relations.
The questions is though if this is a good way to add relations for
describing hierarchical relations between metadatarecords.

Is there someone who have other ideas on this?
