Thanks to for feedback on mkdocs change. I propose we schedule a breakout “merge party” next Tuesday : https://meet.jit.si/GeoNetworkMeeting

Agenda:

1. Demo / tour of how to use mkdocs locally

2. Merge #7329

3. Change over build jobs, live website

There will be some outstanding work:

• Update rst-writer.xsl to markdown-writer.xsl

• Translation whole document or “portable object” (PO) / “portable object template” POT) files

The version switcher built in to mkdocs is very slick, but to benefit fully we should convert the 4.2.x and 3.12.x (and 2.10.x) branches.

Demo / discussion:

1. Review of docs/manual/README.md build and deploy instructions
2. Deploy with mike was cool, but more research needed.
3. Open question how to have 4.4-SNAPSHOT docs? latest redirects to 4.2.5 and is not separate
4. Open question on handling of translations (whole document or POT files)

Decisions:

• decide to deploy to github pages, or update website folder? GitHub Pages …
• Do we want a CNANEM for http://docs.geonetwork-opensource.org/ ? Yes …
• Important: Do not do any structure changes on docs so redirect is easy (navigation does not change URLs)

Merge planning (actions):

• jody: some small structure changes from User Manual refresh content updates #7363

• Jose: merge to git 4.2.5 published, mike publish 4.2.5

• Jose: backport to the 4.2.x branch? and remove what is not needed

• Jose: backport to the 3.12.x branch? and remove what is not needed

• Jose: Check what is different between https://github.com/geonetwork/doc/tree/3.12.x and https://github.com/geonetwork/doc/tree/4.0.x ?

• Jody: should we run the script on 2.10.x branch https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/tree/2.11.x/docs? Good for for the version chooser? Or keep the 2.10.x manual online as it is … (try experiment, keep static files as backup)

• Juan: setup subdomain

• Juan: check about redirect to GitHub pages

• Jose: existing geonetwork links to documentation (https://github.com/geonetwork/core-geonetwork/blob/main/web/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/data/data/resources/config/manual.json) this would need update if there are any structure changes.

• Jose: Create new GitHub action to build and publish tags

• Jose: Turn off build jobs when complete
